KANO, Nigeria – The Kano State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB) finalises plans to establish 30 learning centres across three local government areas to reduce the number of out-of-school children.
SUBEB Executive Chairman Yusuf Kabir announces the initiative at Garun Dau Special Primary School in Warawa Local Government Area.
In a statement on Friday the programme targets girls and Tsangaya pupils under the 2024 UBEC/SUBEB Matching Grant Intervention Programme.
“Our goal is to provide structured education for children who lack access to formal schooling,” Kabir says. “This will bridge gaps and equip them with basic skills.”
The first phase covers Albasu, Bagwai and Warawa councils, with flexible schedules and two facilitators per centre. Kabir confirms facilitators have undergone training and will receive allowances, while instructional materials are fully provided.
