ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigerian Army announces a nationwide verification exercise for children of deceased personnel under its 2025/2026 education sponsorship scheme.
The screening runs across all six geopolitical zones between February and March 2026, according to a notice published on the Army’s official X account on Thursday.
“The programme guarantees primary, secondary and tertiary education for children of personnel who died in active service,” the notice says.
Verification begins in the South-South zone in Port Harcourt from February 23, followed by South-East, South-West, North-East, North-West and North-Central centres, concluding in Abuja on March 27.
Applicants must present admission letters, academic records, birth certificates, official casualty notifications and bank details, the Army says.
The initiative forms part of the military’s welfare commitment to families of fallen soldiers, ensuring educational continuity despite the loss of a breadwinner.
