ANAMBRA, Nigeria- Police in southeastern Nigeria arrest four additional suspects linked to the killing of three Cameroonian nationals, escalating an ongoing homicide investigation, authorities say
The Nigeria Police Force in Anambra State says the arrests follow a raid on a shrine in the Nando community, Anambra East Local Government Area.
In a statement on Monday, the state Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga identifies the suspects as Chukwuemeka Emmanuel, alleged shrine chief priest, alongside three others. Officers recover firearms, ammunition, machetes, and charms during the operation.
“The arrests followed confessions from suspects already in custody,” Ikenga says, adding that officers encountered armed resistance on arrival.
According to police, gunfire erupts during the raid, allowing a prime suspect and several accomplices to escape. One suspect sustains a gunshot wound and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Investigators say efforts are underway to track down fleeing suspects, while those arrested remain under interrogation.
