LAGOS, Nigeria – Lagos environmental authorities move to seal markets and plazas in Ikorodu after inspections reveal widespread waste management violations.
The Lagos State Government, through the Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement unit of Lagos Waste Management Authority, issued Notices of Intention to Seal to several facilities following routine surveillance on Saturday.
Affected premises include the Ikorodu Ferry Terminal, properties along NBC Road, and markets such as Ladega and Better Life. Officials grant operators 72 hours to address sanitation lapses and comply with environmental regulations, warning that failure will attract enforcement actions.
Authorities stress that environmental hygiene requires collective responsibility, urging businesses and residents to adopt proper waste disposal practices to protect public health.
