Edo Governor, Monday Okpebholo signing asset protection and court restoration bills
BENIN CITY, Nigeria – Edo State secures a landmark partnership with NNPC Limited to develop a 10,000-barrel-per-day condensate refinery, strengthening Nigeria’s downstream petroleum capacity and regional industrial growth.
The refinery, to be located across Oredo and Orhionmwon local government areas, is expected to be completed within 24 to 36 months, according to a statement from the governor’s office on Thursday.
Governor Monday Okpebholo described the investment as a major boost to job creation and economic expansion under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“This project creates jobs, reduces poverty and positions Edo as an industrial hub,” Okpebholo says. “Our administration is fully committed to its success.”
Once operational, the refinery will produce about 20 truckloads of petrol and 10 truckloads of diesel daily, supplying Edo and neighbouring states.
The state government pledges land allocation, Certificates of Occupancy, security and logistical support to facilitate smooth execution.
NNPC’s Executive Vice-President for Downstream, Alhaji Mumuni Dagazia, says the project is designed for sustainability beyond revenue generation.
“This refinery drives employment, industrial growth and long-term development,” he notes.
