LAGOS, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu departs Nigeria for Europe on an end-of-year vacation ahead of an official visit to Abu Dhabi, where he is scheduled to attend the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) Summit.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirms the trip in a statement issued on Sunday, noting that the Middle East leg of the journey follows an invitation from the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
According to the statement, President Tinubu is expected to participate in high-level engagements during the week-long sustainability summit, which brings together global leaders from government, business and civil society.
Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week serves as a major international platform for advancing dialogue on climate action, energy transition, innovation and inclusive economic growth.
The 2026 edition of the summit will be held under the theme, “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” with discussions centred on aligning innovation, finance and human capital to deliver practical and scalable solutions to global sustainability challenges.
Presidency sources say Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable development, climate resilience and international cooperation in addressing environmental and economic pressures.
