Kaduna Governor, Uba Sani
KADUNA, Nigeria – Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, signs the ₦985.9 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, allocating the highest share—25 per cent—to education in a move aimed at driving inclusive development.
The budget was signed Tuesday at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, with the governor describing it as a strategic fiscal roadmap to consolidate achievements and expand economic and social opportunities across the state. “This budget is not just about numbers; it is a deliberate roadmap to consolidate the gains we have made and deepen inclusive development across Kaduna State,” Sani says.
Under the approved framework, ₦698.9 billion, representing 70.9 per cent, goes to capital expenditure, prioritising infrastructure, economic stimulation and improved service delivery. Recurrent expenditure stands at ₦287 billion, accounting for 29.1 per cent.
Sectoral allocations show infrastructure and rural transformation also receive 25 per cent, while the health sector gets 15 per cent. Agriculture and food security account for 11.65 per cent, alongside provisions for climate action, nutrition and environmental sustainability.
Governor Sani says the budget, titled “Budget of Consolidation of Transformation for Inclusive Development,” targets long-standing exclusion through community-focused interventions.
“To ensure development reaches the grassroots, we have earmarked ₦100 million for each ward to support community-driven projects,” he says.
He stresses fiscal discipline, noting that the budget includes no new loans, with ₦114.9 billion already spent on debt servicing. “This budget is about delivering progress and improving lives. Its success depends on effective implementation and collaboration,” Sani adds, pledging continued cooperation with the Kaduna State House of Assembly.
