AIG Nkechi Eze
ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigerian Police Force has elevated its medical services unit to a full directorate and appointed Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Nkechi Eze as its first Director, marking a significant step toward improving healthcare access for personnel nationwide.
The announcement was made in Abuja on Thursday by Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who described AIG Eze as a seasoned clinician and administrator.
Eze, a dental surgeon with 27 years of service, hails from Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State. She trained at the former University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, and holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of Benin.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun tasked her with strengthening the medical system within the Force. “Our aim is to build a world-class healthcare framework that supports the wellbeing and readiness of our personnel,” he said.
The upgrade grants the medical directorate increased operational authority and budgetary control, enabling expanded hospital services, staff welfare programmes, and mental health support.
AIG Eze’s appointment is expected to improve access to healthcare services for officers, families, and retirees across the country.
