LAGOS, Nigeria – Residents of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State are receiving free medical services and medication as the council begins a two-day community health outreach.
The programme, organised by the local government in collaboration with KOH Progressive Movement, was flagged off on Friday at the Council Secretariat near Idiagbon Bus Stop, Ifako.
The council said the outreach was designed to improve access to essential healthcare services and promote preventive healthcare among residents. Residents attending the programme are receiving free medical consultations and medication, while cases requiring further treatment are being referred to appropriate general hospitals.
The council’s Vice Chairman, Oluwatoyin Awoniyi-Akerele, who represented Chairman Usman Akanbi Hamzat, commended the organisers, medical personnel and other stakeholders involved in the initiative.
She urged residents to take advantage of the programme and make preventive healthcare and regular medical check-ups part of their routine.
The event was attended by the Leader of the 7th Legislative Arm, Kayode Samuel; Medical Director of Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital, Oluyemi Taiwo; and Grand Commander of Health, Ifako-Ijaiye, Oluwafemi Adikuremi.
