EDO, Nigeria – Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has pledged to strengthen the state’s security architecture with a rapid emergency response system capable of responding to security threats within five minutes.
The governor gave the assurance on Sunday during a worship service at Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) along Sapele Road, Benin City, where he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving public safety.
Okpebholo said the government would introduce dedicated emergency telephone lines to enable residents to report security incidents promptly, allowing security agencies to respond swiftly across the state.
“We will continue to work for Edo people. In terms of security, Edo will be safer in the next one month. We will be able to respond to security threats in any part of the state,” he said.
According to the governor, the administration is intensifying efforts to combat kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminal activities, with the goal of making Edo safer than it was before his assumption of office.
The Resident Pastor of the church, Emmanuel Ebiye, commended the governor’s developmental initiatives and prayed for wisdom and strength as he continues to lead the state.
Ebiye also appreciated the governor for donating food items, including bags of rice and cooking oil, to churches for distribution to members.
Following the church service, Okpebholo visited Rock of Ages Christian Assembly International, where the General Overseer, Charles Osazuwa, urged Nigerians not to be discouraged by negative prophecies about the country’s future.
Osazuwa expressed confidence that the 2027 general elections would be peaceful and that Nigeria would remain united, while encouraging Christians to acquire vocational skills and support human capital development.
