Delta Police Arrest Six, Recover Tramadol, Rohypnol in Agbor Drug Raid

DELTA, Nigeria – The Delta State Police Command has arrested six suspected drug dealers and recovered quantities of Tramadol, Rohypnol and other suspected illicit substances during a raid on a suspected drug distribution outlet in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.
The operation followed credible intelligence indicating that a store located along Alegwe Street, off Owa Road, was allegedly being used for the sale and distribution of illicit drugs.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed in a statement on Thursday that operatives attached to the Department of Operations acted on the intelligence while on routine patrol and stormed the location.
According to him, those arrested include Anabel Haruna, 18; Terhemen Faith, 19; Kaityo Abigail, 23; Iorkee Eunice, 26; Osomuri Emmanuel, 31; and a 15-year-old female juvenile whose identity was withheld in line with child protection laws.
Edafe said officers also searched a vehicle allegedly linked to the suspects, recovering quantities of Tramadol, Rohypnol and other substances believed to be illicit drugs.
He added that the suspects and exhibits are currently in police custody while investigations continue to determine the source of the drugs, the roles played by each suspect and possible links to a wider drug trafficking network.
Reacting to the operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Erale, warned individuals involved in the sale and distribution of illicit drugs to desist, stressing that the command would sustain intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling drug networks across the state.
Erale expressed concern over the growing circulation of illicit drugs, noting that substance abuse contributes significantly to violent crimes and other security challenges.
He directed officers to intensify surveillance, intelligence gathering and enforcement operations against drug dealers and criminal syndicates operating within Delta State.
