Nigeria First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu
ABEOKUTA, Nigeria – Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is expected to visit Ogun State on Tuesday to launch the Zonal National Community Food Bank Programme and commission major housing and healthcare projects aimed at improving the welfare of residents.
The food distribution exercise will take place in Makun, Sagamu, where vulnerable and indigent households are expected to benefit from the Federal Government’s social intervention initiative.
According to the Ogun State Government, the programme will bring together government officials, community leaders and other stakeholders as part of efforts to strengthen food security and provide relief for vulnerable Nigerians.
During the visit, the First Lady will also commission key infrastructure projects, including housing and healthcare facilities designed to improve access to essential social services.
She is expected to inaugurate the 108-unit Muhammadu Buhari Estate, which was developed to expand affordable housing opportunities, as well as the Gateway Medical Centre of Excellence, a 250-bed specialist hospital established to enhance access to quality healthcare for residents of Ogun State and neighbouring communities.
Mrs. Tinubu will also hold an engagement with key stakeholders at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, where discussions are expected to focus on social development and collaborative initiatives between the Federal and Ogun State governments.
The visit is expected to strengthen cooperation between both levels of government in the areas of social welfare, healthcare delivery, housing development and poverty alleviation.
The National Community Food Bank Programme forms part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to improve food security, reduce hunger and cushion the effects of economic hardship on vulnerable households across the country.
Meanwhile, the newly commissioned housing and healthcare projects are expected to improve access to quality social infrastructure and support sustainable development in Ogun State.
