OYO, Nigeria – The Oyo human parts arrest investigation has led to the arrest of 10 suspected human parts dealers as police recover suspected body parts and ritual items during coordinated operations in Oyo State.
The Oyo State Police Command announced the arrests on Saturday through its spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade.
According to Ayanlade, the suspects are apprehended after months of intelligence gathering and covert surveillance conducted by the command’s Monitoring Unit.
Police carry out the operations at separate locations in Iseyin and Saki, where officers recover suspected human body parts alongside assorted charms.
Recovered exhibits include a suspected human heart, human flesh, pieces of a human skull and ritual objects.
The exhibits have been secured for forensic examination as investigators work to establish their origin and intended use.
Police say the suspects are assisting investigators in uncovering the wider criminal network allegedly involved in the illicit trade.
Efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the suspected syndicate.
Commissioner of Police Abimbola Olugbenga commends the operatives for their intelligence-led operation and professionalism.
He reassures residents that the command remains committed to dismantling criminal networks and protecting lives across Oyo State.
