ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) has warned government agencies, development partners and the public to disregard fraudulent requests seeking financial support for the production, printing and nationwide distribution of the Revised Basic Education Curriculum, saying the Council has not authorised any such appeal.
The warning comes amid reports of a fake document circulating in the public domain requesting funding for the implementation of the curriculum for the 2026/2027 academic session.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, NERDC Executive Secretary Professor Salisu Shehu said NERDC had not approached any organisation, institution or individual to solicit financial assistance for the production or dissemination of the revised curriculum.
“Any letter or correspondence requesting financial assistance for the production, printing or distribution of the Revised Basic Education Curriculum did not emanate from the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council and should be disregarded,” Shehu said.
According to him, implementation plans are being coordinated in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, state ministries of education and other relevant government agencies responsible for curriculum delivery nationwide.
