LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos placement test has been rescheduled from Saturday, July 25, to Tuesday, July 28, 2026, after the Lagos State Government says the original date clashes with the state’s monthly environmental sanitation exercise.
The annual examination, organised by the Lagos State Examinations Board (LSEB), serves as the entrance test for final-year primary school pupils seeking admission into public junior secondary schools across Lagos.
The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education announces the date change in a statement posted on the Lagos State Government’s official X account on Tuesday.
LSEB Registrar, Mr. Adebayo Orunsolu, says the adjustment is necessary because movement restrictions during the monthly sanitation exercise would disrupt access to examination centres.
“The adjustment became necessary following the realisation that the earlier scheduled date coincides with the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise, which is observed on the last Saturday of every month across Lagos State,” Orunsolu says.
He adds: “The restriction of movement during the sanitation exercise would significantly affect the smooth movement of candidates, parents, guardians, and examination personnel to designated examination centres across the State.”
According to Orunsolu, the board approves Tuesday, July 28, as the new date for the Lagos placement test to ensure a smooth and seamless examination process.
He urges parents, guardians, school administrators and candidates to take note of the revised schedule and make the necessary arrangements.
The registrar assures stakeholders that all preparations have been completed to guarantee a transparent, credible and hitch-free examination.
“Every necessary arrangement has been put in place to ensure the successful, transparent, and hitch-free conduct of the Placement Test,” he says.
