GUSAU, Nigeria – Zamfara approves early payment of February salaries and pensions to ease workers into Ramadan.
Governor Dauda Lawal directs the State Accountant General to release funds immediately, according to a statement issued on Monday by the Information Commissioner Mahmud Dantawasa.
The government says the decision allows civil servants and retirees to prepare adequately for the holy month.
“This directive ensures workers and pensioners commence Ramadan comfortably,” the statement reads.
Lawal urges residents to use the sacred period to pray for peace, unity and stability, particularly as the state confronts security challenges.
He reaffirms his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, describing timely salary payment as central to economic stability and public trust.
The governor also wishes Muslims in Zamfara and beyond a peaceful and spiritually rewarding Ramadan.
