ABUJA, Nigeria – Nigeria’s Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) pledges renewed support for educational infrastructure in Nigerian Air Force (NAF) institutions, following high-level discussions with military leadership.
The commitment comes during a visit by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to the TETFund headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
Aneke thanked the agency for its long-standing support to the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), describing TETFund interventions as critical to the institution’s growth.
“It is indeed a great pleasure for me and members of my delegation to be here today at the headquarters of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund,” Aneke says.
He explains that AFIT has evolved over 48 years into a multidisciplinary centre for aviation, aerospace and defence training.
“AFIT has become one of the most sought-after institutions for aviation-related studies in Nigeria,” Aneke says, citing its reputation for academic excellence and uninterrupted academic calendar.
The Air Chief highlights the role of TETFund in building laboratories, hostels and modern learning facilities at the institution.
He also requests further support for artificial intelligence and robotics laboratories, improved security infrastructure and residential accommodation for staff.
TETFund Executive Secretary Arch. Sonny Echono commends the sacrifices of Nigeria’s armed forces and assures continued institutional support.
“Very often we do not talk about the work that allows citizens to sleep peacefully at night,” Echono says.
He pledges priority funding for AFIT infrastructure and specialised programmes such as aviation medicine, reinforcing TETFund’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
