Senate Orders Probe into Plateau Killings, Deploys Delegation

ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigerian Senate orders a full investigation into deadly Plateau attacks and moves to support affected communities.

Lawmakers on Tuesday directed Inspector-General Olatunji Disu to probe the killings in Anguwan Rukuba, which left at least 28 people dead.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio is set to lead a delegation to commiserate with victims.

“This violence threatens lives, livelihoods and food security,” lawmakers warn during debate led by Diket Plang.

The Senate calls for stronger security measures, including permanent bases in volatile areas, enhanced surveillance and increased recruitment into security forces.
