LAGOS, Nigeria – The Rotary Club of Ikeja, District 9111, donates medical equipment and essential hospital supplies worth millions of naira to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), reinforcing healthcare delivery during the Christmas season.
The donation, presented on Sunday, includes drip stands, glucometers, diagnostic sets, a sphygmomanometer, suction machine, defibrillator, patient monitor and 100 hospital bedsheets, all aimed at strengthening patient care and emergency response at the teaching hospital.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, the President of the Rotary Club of Ikeja, Olanrewaju Lawal, says the initiative reflects the club’s commitment to humanitarian service and long-standing partnership with LASUTH.
“This outreach is about hope, healing and compassion,” Lawal says. “As part of our yearly tradition, we celebrate Christmas by donating medical equipment worth millions of naira to LASUTH, equipping our medical heroes with tools they need to save more lives.”
Beyond equipment support, the club also honours excellence among hospital staff, presenting appreciation plaques for Outstanding Doctor, Outstanding Nurse, Most Valuable Staff, Most Punctual Staff, Outstanding Junior Staff and Outstanding Senior Staff.
Receiving the items, the Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, Professor Adetokunbo Fabamwo, expresses gratitude to the Rotary Club, describing the donation as timely and impactful. “This support will not be taken for granted,” Fabamwo says. “The Rotary Club of Ikeja has consistently demonstrated commitment to LASUTH and to healthcare delivery over the years.”
He assures that the donated equipment will be properly deployed and utilised to improve patient outcomes and serve humanity more effectively.
