ABEOKUTA, Nigeria – The Ogun State Government has convened a high-level security dialogue with Fulani community leaders, security agencies and local stakeholders to strengthen peace and prevent emerging threats.
The meeting takes place in Abeokuta on Thursday, bringing together traditional Fulani leaders known as Serikis, representatives of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, security chiefs and local government officials.
The engagement is coordinated by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Security Olusola Subair, a retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
Subair stresses that sustained peace requires close cooperation between government authorities, security institutions and community leaders.
“Maintaining peace requires consistent collaboration between government authorities, security agencies and community stakeholders,” he says.
He explains that improved coordination and dialogue will help prevent crime and strengthen early response mechanisms in communities.
The state government also reiterates its commitment to building trust with various ethnic and community groups.
Subair says the administration will continue expanding partnerships to preserve the peaceful atmosphere currently enjoyed across Ogun State.
Participants at the meeting also discuss strategies to improve grassroots intelligence sharing and strengthen communication between security agencies and community leaders.
Officials say such engagements remain crucial to preventing conflicts and addressing emerging security concerns across rural and urban areas.
