ABUJA, Nigeria – The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has partnered with global tech firm Cisco to offer free online cybersecurity training for Nigerians.
The initiative, announced in Abuja on Wednesday during the 2025 Cybersecurity Awareness Month, aims to strengthen national cyber resilience by equipping participants with essential skills to counter rising cyber threats.
NITDA’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, said the program complements Nigeria’s ongoing digital transformation. “We just signed an MOU with SecDojo, a cybersecurity capacity-building provider, to enhance our national resilience,” he said.
He added that the initiative will harness Nigeria’s young talent for global opportunities. “We have a young population that, if trained, can fill global cybersecurity roles,” Inuwa noted.
The training aligns with the global Cybersecurity Awareness Month theme promoting safe online practices. Interested participants can register before October 31, 2025, at tinyurl.com/NTCYTraining25.
This collaboration complements NITDA’s earlier partnership with SecDojo to develop local cybersecurity experts and reduce dependency on foreign specialists — a crucial move as Nigeria continues to lose billions to cybercrime yearly.
