ABUJA, Nigeria – Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police orders a sweeping redeployment of senior officers, repositioning leadership across commands to improve operational efficiency nationwide.
The reshuffle affects Assistant Inspectors-General and Commissioners of Police across state commands, specialised units, and Force Headquarters. Police authorities describe the move as a strategic effort to reinforce leadership and enhance service delivery.
Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid,on Tuesday confirmed the changes, noting deployments span intelligence, legal services, community policing, and international liaison roles.
Among key postings, AIG Dahiru Mohammed moves to Maiduguri, while AIG Moshood Jimoh takes charge in Lagos. At commissioner level, CP Muhammed Sanusi Ahmed assumes leadership in the Federal Capital Territory, with CP Olatunji Fatai heading Lagos State Command.
Inspector-General Olatunji Disu tasks officers to uphold professionalism and discipline. “Bring your wealth of experience to bear and maintain the highest standards,” he says.
The police chief frames the reshuffle as a structural reform to strengthen command systems and improve public-facing policing outcomes.
The changes come amid growing public concern over insecurity, placing pressure on the Force to deliver tangible results.
