ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Government declares April 3 and April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark Good Friday and Easter Monday celebrations.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announces the decision in a statement on Wednesday, urging Nigerians to embrace unity and reflection.
“I urge Nigerians to imbibe selflessness, forgiveness and love,” he says.
He calls for peaceful coexistence and national unity, emphasising Easter’s message of tolerance and shared values.
The government reiterates its commitment to policies aimed at economic growth and national development.
Christians across Nigeria and the diaspora are encouraged to celebrate peacefully while reflecting on the significance of the season.
