ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) releases ₦392.8 million in education loan support to Delta State University, Abraka, benefiting 1,854 students struggling with tuition and academic costs.
NELFUND confirms the disbursement in a statement on Sunday, saying the intervention aims to reduce financial pressure on students and help them remain focused on their studies. The fund says the payment aligns with its mandate to ensure that economic hardship does not force students out of tertiary education.
In an acknowledgement letter dated January 13, 2026, the university registrar, Mrs Rufina Ofio, confirms receipt of ₦392,876,550 on behalf of the institution. She says the funds will provide critical relief to students facing mounting economic challenges.
Writing for the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel O. Asagba, Ofio thanks NELFUND for what she describes as a “meaningful contribution” to widening access to higher education. She adds that the university remains committed to working with the agency to support student welfare.
The latest release forms part of a broader national education financing drive designed to improve enrolment, retention and completion rates across Nigerian universities.
