LAGOS, Nigeria – Lagos strengthens its security architecture with the deployment of 80 new patrol vehicles and plans to introduce drone surveillance across the state.
The Lagos State Security Trust Fund on Monday announced the intervention as part of reforms to improve rapid response, visibility and intelligence gathering.
Executive Secretary Ayo Ogunsan says the move reflects his administration’s focus during its first 100 days in office.
“We injected 80 operational patrol vehicles into the security space to strengthen response time, and more are on the way,” Ogunsan says.
He adds that the Fund expands fundraising through crowdfunding and private-sector partnerships while reviving retail donation channels to widen public participation.
According to Ogunsan, a dedicated monitoring team now tracks security assets on land and waterways, improving accountability among beneficiary agencies. A sole donor has also committed to constructing a permanent LSSTF office complex.
The Fund begins restoring abandoned Armoured Personnel Carriers and secures a private pledge to renovate 30 police stations in phases. It also plans aerial surveillance in partnership with the Nigerian Air Force and the Police Airwing.
“In the next 100 days, we will roll out statewide training, safer school patrols and public sensitisation campaigns against crime,” Ogunsan says.
