Lagos Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab
LAGOS, Nigeria – Lagos State dismisses claims that its monthly environmental sanitation exercise has been scrapped, insisting the policy remains legally valid and enforceable.
Environment Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab on Friday said the Court of Appeal upholds the law governing the exercise.
“No court has invalidated this exercise,” he states.
Authorities confirm the sanitation exercise will proceed as scheduled, with restricted movement between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
Emergency services, travellers and examination candidates will be exempted.
Enforcement will involve agencies including LASEPA, LAWMA and KAI, with penalties for defaulters.
“Disregard misleading claims,” Wahab adds.
The government also plans incentives for the cleanest communities to boost compliance.
Officials say the exercise remains critical to improving environmental hygiene and public health across the state.
