LAGOS, Nigeria – Lagos State equips 50 civil servants with disabilities with assistive technologies to boost workplace productivity and inclusion across government ministries.
The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) distributes laptops, mobility aids and specialised software during a work-tool empowerment programme held on Monday.
General Manager Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal says the initiative strengthens efficiency and professional performance among beneficiaries.
“This initiative provides essential tools for civil servants with disabilities to perform efficiently. You must give your very best and avoid excuses,” she states.
Items distributed include Intel Core HP laptops, JAWS-enabled systems, mobility scooters, automated wheelchairs, prosthetics, crutches and hearing aids.
Oyetunde-Lawal emphasises the growing role of technology in enhancing accessibility within the civil service, noting that the agency will monitor utilisation through feedback from ministries, departments and agencies.
She commends Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for increasing budgetary allocation to support persons with disabilities.
“Technology is vital in improving efficiency, accessibility and productivity in daily work,” she adds.
Beneficiaries describe the initiative as impactful, saying it will significantly improve their working conditions and output.
