Ilorin, Nigeria – The Kwara State Government has announced the commencement of its 2026 Coding and Digital Literacy Programme in public schools, building on what it described as the landmark success of the 2025 edition.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Friday by Kwara Digital Innovations.
According to the statement, the previous edition concluded with the Kwara Futures Exhibition, which showcased innovations and technical projects developed by students across the state.
“The exhibition demonstrated the impact of sustained investment in digital education and youth empowerment,” the statement said.
To ensure continuity, schools that participated in the 2025 programme have been directed to begin the new session with a comprehensive revision of either Coding or Digital Literacy tracks, while schools yet to adopt the initiative are required to immediately commence Digital Literacy classes.
The 2026 curriculum has been expanded to include Web Development, Artificial Intelligence, Python Programming, innovative thinking, project development, and structured mentorship.
“These courses are designed to prepare students for the demands of the modern global technology ecosystem,” the statement noted.
The government disclosed that the rollout has the full backing of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who has approved the necessary provisions to ensure successful implementation.
