IKIRUN, Nigeria – The Ikirun College of Health Technology matriculates 507 students in Osun State, marking a major expansion of its capacity to train health professionals amid rising demand in Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
The ceremony, held on Thursday, signals rapid institutional growth since the college’s establishment in 2024, with approvals from federal and state authorities and accreditation by the National Board for Technical Education.
Rector Salaudeen Oyewale says the admissions reflect a merit-driven process aligned with national health workforce needs.
“You have been carefully selected based on merit, potential, and readiness to embrace discipline,” Oyewale tells students. “You must uphold the ethics and values of healthcare delivery.”
He highlights partnerships with agencies including the National Youth Service Corps and the Osun State Primary Health Care Board, alongside initiatives such as disease surveillance and community outreach.
“The profession you are entering deals directly with human lives,” he adds. “It is not just a career but a calling.”
Governing Council Chairman Mustapha Adeleke Olawuyi urges strict discipline and accountability among the new intakes.
“Admission is only the beginning,” Olawuyi says. “What matters is your conduct and commitment going forward.”
He warns that indiscipline will not be tolerated, stressing punctuality and respect for institutional rules. Osun Health College Admits 507 Students in Major Expansion Push
Officials say the college aims to position itself as a regional hub for health technology training as Nigeria continues to grapple with shortages in skilled healthcare personnel.
