ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched an investigation into a viral video showing an altercation between its officers and a driver along Abudu, Edo State.
The clip, shared widely on social media, shows a driver whipping uniformed FRSC officials during a traffic stop, amid claims that the argument stemmed from a bribe demand.
FRSC Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, in a Sunday statement, said the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, has ordered an immediate investigation.
“The incident is of deep concern. Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against any officer found culpable,” the statement read.
Ogungbemide emphasised that the FRSC “does not condone unprofessional conduct” and is committed to integrity, discipline, and public safety.
The Corps also warned against assaulting FRSC personnel, urging the public to remain calm and cooperate with officers performing lawful duties.
“The Corps will not tolerate violence against its staff during duty,” Ogungbemide stressed.
