TETFund Executive Secretary, Arc. Sonny Echono
ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Government reiterates its commitment to securing learning environments nationwide as the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) hosts the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Abuja.
Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny Echono, tells the visiting student leaders that government collaboration with security agencies remains central to the National Safe School Initiative. “As I always say, Nigerian students are at the heart of all we are doing in the education sector,” he notes, citing the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Echono says TETFund is expanding both physical and digital infrastructure while motivating lecturers to improve teaching outcomes. “We are looking at ways to encourage your lecturers to put in their best and provide facilities—both physical and online,” he explains.
He adds that the government aims to produce globally competitive graduates equipped to create jobs. The TETFund boss acknowledges President Tinubu’s engagement with young people, including appointments to government positions.
NANS Secretary General, Comrade Anzaku Shedrack, praises TETFund for transformative interventions across campuses and passes a vote of confidence on Echono. He also formally invites him to the NANS 45th anniversary scheduled for 4–7 December 2025, where President Tinubu will receive the title of Grand Commander of Nigerian Students and Echono will be honoured as Patron of Nigerian Students.
