ABUJA, Nigeria – A suspected viral haemorrhagic fever case at Nisa Premier Hospital, Abuja, has tested negative, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) confirmed Friday.
The patient, a 32-year-old male estate developer identified as O.I., had returned from Rwanda on Thursday aboard Rwanda Air, presenting with 10 days of fever, nose bleeding, bloody stool, and vomiting blood.
Founder and CEO of Nisa Medical Group, Dr Ibrahim Wada, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN): “I have just confirmed that the test result turned out negative.”
He explained that the patient was immediately isolated and the NCDC alerted upon arrival at the hospital. The agency swiftly tested for Ebola, Marburg, Dengue, and Lassa fever—all of which returned negative.
Africa Health Report gathered that the FCT Rapid Response Team was activated, strict infection prevention measures were enforced, and samples were sent for laboratory confirmation before results were released.
Authorities urged the public to remain calm, assuring that preventive measures remain robust. In recent years, Ebola outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of Congo have heightened regional vigilance.
