Nigeria President, Bola Tinubu
ABUJA, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu will deliver a nationwide broadcast at 7am Wednesday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the broadcast Tuesday.
He urged television and radio stations to hook up to the Nigerian Television Authority and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria for live transmission.
The broadcast replaces the traditional parade, which the federal government cancelled earlier this week.
Analysts say Tinubu’s address will be closely watched for policy directions amid economic hardship and insecurity. “Nigerians are expecting concrete assurances on jobs, inflation, and safety,” said political commentator Dr Hassan Abdullahi.
Civil groups are also calling for messages of unity at a time of regional tensions. “Independence Day should remind us of our shared destiny,” activist Efe Obayemi said.
Tinubu is expected to highlight progress under his administration, including infrastructure projects, fuel subsidy reforms, and security measures.
