ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Government of Nigeria Power Company (FGNPC) secures commitments from Ebonyi and Enugu states to advance key electricity infrastructure projects under the Presidential Power Initiative.
The engagements focus on obtaining Right-of-Way approvals and ensuring site security for critical transmission developments.
Chief Commercial Officer Babatunde Daramola-Oniru emphasises the importance of collaboration.
“The success of these projects depends on strong partnerships with states and communities,” he says.
In Ebonyi, the Ugwaji–Okposi 330kV transmission line is expected to boost grid capacity and improve electricity supply.
“This project will enhance power evacuation and reliability for homes and businesses,” Daramola-Oniru adds.
Ebonyi’s Secretary to the State Government Grace Umezurike pledges full cooperation.
“We will remove bottlenecks to ensure timely delivery,” she states.
In Enugu, Chidiebere Onyia describes the initiative as vital to the state’s smart city ambitions.
“A reliable power network is critical for industrial and digital growth,” he says.
The Presidential Power Initiative aims to increase Nigeria’s electricity capacity by 4,000MW through partnerships with global firms including Siemens Energy.
Energy experts say improved infrastructure could significantly stabilise Nigeria’s power supply and support economic growth.
