WARRI, Nigeria – The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) demands security presence in hospitals after two doctors are assaulted at Central Hospital, Warri.
The attack occurs after physicians inform a grieving father of his newborn’s death.
NARD describes the incident as “barbaric” and warns of rising violence against healthcare workers.
“No healthcare worker should face violence for doing their duty,” the association says.
Police confirm the suspect has been arrested.
NARD backs a 48-hour warning strike by doctors at the hospital, calling it a stand for safety and dignity.
The association urges compensation and psychosocial support for the victims.
Health experts warn that continued attacks could undermine healthcare delivery and morale nationwide.
