LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Government abolishes manual processing of building approvals, mandating a full transition to its digital platform to improve transparency and efficiency in urban planning.
Special Adviser on E-GIS and Urban Development, Olajide Babatunde, on Friday announced that all planning permits must now be processed via the Electronic Physical Planning Process System (EPPPS), effective April 1, 2026.
The web-based platform is deployed across agencies including Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority and Lagos State Building Control Agency, enabling users to submit applications, secure construction approvals and obtain stage certifications online.
Authorities say trained personnel and infrastructure are already in place across district offices to ensure smooth implementation.
To enforce compliance, the government sets up a monitoring task force, warning that attempts to bypass the system will attract sanctions.
Babatunde says the reform aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s broader agenda to create a business-friendly environment and reduce building collapse incidents.
He adds that digital tools have simplified processes such as mortgage consent, cutting steps from 29 to eight.
The government assures stakeholders that no new charges are introduced, urging full compliance with the directive.
