ABUJA, Nigeria – The National Examinations Council has announced that the registration period for the 2026 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) will not be extended.
Registrar Dantani Wushishi in a statement on Friday urged school authorities to complete all candidate registrations before the deadlines: standard registration closes Monday, May 25, 2026, and late registration ends Friday, May 29, 2026.
NECO stressed that candidates not registered within the stipulated window risk missing the examination, which determines eligibility for higher education and other opportunities. The council said the directive aims to improve examination efficiency and stakeholder compliance.
