ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Government repatriates 1,230 stranded Nigerians from Niger Republic in a coordinated humanitarian operation completed in two phases.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms 708 returnees arrive on March 23, followed by 522 on March 29, with multi-agency teams ensuring safe reception and reintegration.
Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, highlights the government’s commitment to citizens abroad.
“This operation underscores our resolve to protect Nigerians wherever they are,” he says.
Returnees receive shelter, medical care, and essential supplies before reunification with families.
The government commends the International Organization for Migration and Niger authorities for logistical and diplomatic support.
Officials advise Nigerians abroad to obey host country laws and maintain contact with embassies.
