ABUJA, Nigeria – Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar condemns the killing of residents in Plateau State, calling it proofs of worsening insecurity nationwide.
Gunmen attack Gari Ya Waye community in Jos North on Sunday night, opening fire on civilians, killing several and injuring many others. The assault coincides with Palm Sunday, deepening grief in a region plagued by recurring violence.
“I am outraged by the barbaric attack… which claimed the lives of scores of innocent Nigerians,” Abubakar says in a statement on Monday.
He warns that persistent attacks reflect a collapse of law and order, criticising authorities for failing to translate promises into safety. “Insecurity remains the grim, daily reality of ordinary Nigerians… It is long past the time for outrage without action,” he adds.
Abubakar calls for decisive political will to end the violence, stressing that continued killings must not become normal. Plateau Massacre Sparks Outrage as Atiku Slams Security Failure
