ABUJA, Nigeria – Christian leaders call for unity and calm as Nigerians mark Palm Sunday amid deepening economic hardship and global uncertainty.
President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Daniel Okoh, urges citizens and leaders to embrace peace and responsible leadership.
“The message of this observance remains relevant as many Nigerians grapple with rising living costs and economic pressure,” Okoh says.
He links current hardship to global tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which continue to impact energy prices and daily life.
In Anambra, Governor Chukwuma Soludo echoes the call, emphasising humility and service during a Palm Sunday procession in Awka.
“Leadership is a call to selfless service and sacrifice,” Soludo states.
Clergy also urge citizens to remain hopeful, highlighting unity as essential to navigating economic challenges.
Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, symbolising peace and hope in Christian tradition.
