DELTA, Nigeria – Police in Delta State arraign 68 motorists in a sweeping enforcement drive targeting traffic violations across major cities, authorities confirm.
The operation, coordinated by the Delta State Police Command with mobile courts in Warri and Asaba, forms part of intensified efforts to curb road indiscipline and enhance public safety.
Police spokesperson Bright Edafe in a statement on Sunday says offenders face prosecution for offences including driving against traffic, use of fake or concealed number plates, and operating vehicles without valid licences.
“Vehicles with unregistered or obscured number plates are often linked to criminal activities and can evade security checks,” Edafe states.
Authorities also cite illegal use of sirens, road obstruction, and lack of proper registration among the violations recorded during the exercise.
All offenders are penalised under existing traffic laws, reinforcing what police describe as zero tolerance for non-compliance.
The command confirms ongoing collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps and Delta State Traffic Management Agency to strengthen enforcement.
Motorists are urged to comply with traffic regulations and ensure proper documentation, as officials pledge sustained operations to maintain order and protect lives.
