ABUJA, Nigeria – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has declared admissions into the Law programme at Lead City University invalid, warning that the offers were not processed through the official admissions platform.
In a statement issued on Thursday, JAMB says the admissions are void because they were not conducted through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
“The Board unequivocally states that the said admissions were not conducted through CAPS, the only platform approved for the processing of admissions into tertiary institutions in Nigeria,” the statement says.
JAMB adds that the institution remains under a five-year suspension from admitting students into its Law programme.
“The institution is not authorised to admit candidates into the programme until the expiration of the suspension,” the board states.
The examination body warns that candidates who accept such admissions are considered complicit in the irregular process.
“Candidates admitted through such irregular means have no legitimate claim,” JAMB says.
The board also cautions against attempts to transfer such candidates to other universities.
“JAMB will not endorse any such inter-university transfer without initial admission on CAPS,” the statement explains.
Prospective students are advised to reject any admission offer not processed through CAPS and instead apply through the official Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) process.
Authorities say the directive reinforces strict compliance with Nigeria’s regulated university admission procedures.
