LAGOS, Nigeria – Telecommunications giant Globacom commits ₦1 billion to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), reinforcing public safety infrastructure in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
The Executive Secretary, LSSTF, Dr Ayo Ogunsan on Friday, described the donation as a strategic boost to the state’s security architecture. “This contribution demonstrates responsible corporate leadership and strengthens collective safety,” he says.
Established to bridge funding gaps in security operations, the LSSTF relies on private-sector partnerships to equip law enforcement agencies. Ogunsan confirms that Globacom’s donation supports 2026 security priorities, including helicopters, surveillance drones, armoured vehicles, water cannons, smart CCTV systems and encrypted communication devices.
“These assets enhance intelligence-led policing and rapid response across Lagos,” he adds.
The donation follows Globacom’s participation in a Private Sector Security Breakfast Meeting convened by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, aimed at deepening collaboration between government and business leaders.
In a statement, Globacom says security underpins economic growth. “When people feel safe, innovation thrives and livelihoods are protected,” the company notes, reaffirming confidence in Lagos and Nigeria’s future.
Security analysts say sustained private-sector funding remains critical as urban security demands grow alongside population expansion.
