LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps launches an online recruitment drive to hire officers across all local government areas, expanding grassroots security operations.
The agency announces on its official website that applications are open for Neighbourhood Safety Officer Group B positions on a full-time basis. The move follows approval by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to strengthen community policing.
“Join our community policing initiative to enhance safety at the grassroots,” the agency states.
Applicants must hold at least an SSCE or WAEC certificate, be aged 18 to 30, physically fit and free of criminal records. The recruitment process includes online application, screening and final onboarding.
“Shortlisted candidates will undergo screening tests and interviews before onboarding,” the agency explains.
General Manager Ifalade Oyekan says the recruitment improves response time to security threats and supports protection around public schools and neighbourhoods.
“This exercise strengthens our operational capacity and aligns with the state’s commitment to safer communities,” Oyekan says, urging eligible youths to apply.
Security experts say the expansion reflects Lagos’ growing reliance on local intelligence to complement conventional policing amid rising urban security challenges.
