LAGOS, Nigeria – Nigeria’s admissions body, JAMB, opens registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination on Sunday, introducing stricter underage policies and real-time monitoring of examination centres.
Registrar Prof Ishaq Oloyede announces that ePIN sales begin January 19, ahead of portal registration on January 26, a staggered approach designed to reduce congestion at CBT centres.
For the first time, all 924 provisionally approved centres undergo live monitoring from JAMB’s Abuja headquarters. Centres outside the surveillance system risk payment forfeiture and cancellation of registrations.
“Any centre not visible to us is not authorised to operate,” Oloyede warns.
JAMB also tightens age waiver rules, requiring under-16 candidates to score at least 80 percent across multiple assessments before consideration. Results for such candidates remain withheld pending evaluation.
The registrar cautions against concealing prior admissions, describing concurrent undergraduate enrolment as illegal.
Direct Entry registration begins March 2, while candidates opting for the mock exam must indicate interest by February 16.
The board says the reforms aim to strengthen transparency, fairness and examination integrity nationwide.
