LAFIA, Nigeria – Police officers and local vigilantes dismantle suspected kidnappers’ camps in Nasarawa State, rescuing three captives and arresting six suspects in coordinated operations.
The raids, carried out in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages within Lafia East Development Area, follow reports of abductions in the communities.
Confirming the operation on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Ramhan Nansel says the victims—two women and a man—are rescued unhurt and reunited with their families after receiving medical attention.
The operation follows a distress report on 7 January 2026, indicating that armed men abducted two women in Angara village and abandoned an infant before later seizing another resident.
Upon receiving the report, Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed orders an immediate manhunt, leading to the suspects’ arrest and the discovery of their hideouts.
“The suspects confess to the crime and are transferred to the State CID for further investigation and prosecution,” Nansel says.
Police reaffirm their commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes across Nasarawa State.
