LAGOS, Nigeria – Six people die and two sustain injuries in a fatal road crash along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, the Federal Road Safety Corps confirms.
The crash occurred at about 2:36 p.m. on January 1, 2026, at NASFAT Junction, involving a Mazda commercial bus and a Volvo truck.
Ogun State FRSC spokesperson, Odunsin Afolabi, attributes the accident to overspeeding, which causes loss of control.
“FRSC rescue teams arrived promptly and conducted coordinated rescue operations,” Afolabi says.
The injured victims are taken to Famobis Hospital, Lotto, while the deceased are deposited at the morgue.
Sector Commander Akinwumi Fasakin orders a full investigation into the crash, reiterating the Corps’ commitment to road safety enforcement.
