Kaduna Governor, Uba Sani
KADUNA, Nigeria – The Kaduna State Government completes the recruitment of 1,800 healthcare workers as part of an ambitious plan to revitalise primary healthcare services across the state.
Probationary appointment letters are issued to successful candidates on Monday at a ceremony in Kaduna, marking a significant step in addressing longstanding staffing shortages.
The Executive Secretary of the State Primary Healthcare Board, Bello Yusuf-Jamo, says the recruitment follows rigorous written and oral assessments designed to ensure merit-based selection. “We adhered strictly to transparency, competence and fairness throughout the process,” Yusuf-Jamo says.
He explains that Governor Uba Sani authorises the annual recruitment of 1,800 health workers throughout his anticipated two terms in office to systematically rebuild the sector.
The new appointments align with the state’s efforts to upgrade more than 70 per cent of its 1,119 primary healthcare facilities through improved infrastructure and medical equipment.
Yusuf-Jamo confirms that the recruitment is evenly distributed across Kaduna’s three senatorial districts, ensuring all 23 local government areas benefit.
He also announces preparations for a second recruitment phase involving another 1,800 health workers. “This is a long-term strategy to close workforce gaps and improve service delivery at the grassroots,” he says.
