
Kano students boarding buses for the 2025/2026 exchange programme
KANO, Nigeria – Kano State has successfully sent 588 students to 13 northern states as part of the 2025/2026 Students Exchange Programme.
The students were transported to Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Taraba, and Nasarawa States, while others reached Kaduna, Yobe, Sokoto, Borno, and Kwara without incident. Another 78 students are scheduled to depart for Niger and Benue on September 30.
Director of Public Enlightenment, Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, announced the development on Thursday, stressing that the initiative underscores Kano’s commitment to organised and safe transportation for participants.
The exchange scheme, covering 19 northern states, promotes cultural diversity, unity, and educational collaboration.
Briefing reporters, Kano’s Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, represented by Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Auwal Muhammad Mustapha, assured stakeholders of government backing. “The governor is providing logistics and financial support to guarantee safe transport,” he said.
He praised parents and stakeholders for their cooperation, describing their support as vital to the programme’s success.
Kano’s participation reflects a broader regional effort to deepen unity and prepare young Nigerians for cross-cultural understanding.
