Governor Yusuf signing the bill establishing Gaya Polytechnic in Kano.
KANO, Nigeria – Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf approves the establishment of a special security task force to tighten surveillance at motor parks and other strategic public spaces across the state, amid rising concerns over criminal infiltration.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, discloses on Sunday that motor parks remain high-risk locations due to heavy human traffic and recent arrests of suspected criminals, including at Kofar Ruwa Motor Park.
The newly constituted task force focuses on intelligence gathering, coordinated patrols and rapid-response operations at major entry and exit points within the Kano metropolis. Its mandate also covers filling stations and other public spaces where transient populations frequently converge.
Governor Yusuf describes the move as preventive rather than reactive, stressing that the government will not allow criminals to exploit public infrastructure. “We will not wait for criminal elements to take advantage of our public spaces. This task force ensures Kano remains safe for residents and visitors alike,” Yusuf says.
He adds that the state continues to strengthen collaboration among security agencies to improve operational efficiency and response time. “Our administration has zero tolerance for criminality. We will continue to support security agencies to protect lives and property,” the governor adds.
Officials express confidence that the deployment restores public trust and enhances safety across transport hubs and other vulnerable locations statewide.
